Harbor Seal Pup Remains in Critical Condition at SeaWorld

A harbor seal pup that was abandoned by its mother was taken from Children's Pool in La Jolla to SeaWorld San Diego for care.

1. The guided missile frigate USS Jarrett returned to Naval Station San Diego Friday following a six-month deployment to waters off Central and South America. Sailors aboard the Jarrett traveled both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans while taking part in Chile's bicentennial celebration, conducting drug interdiction operations and performing 1,200 hours of community service in Panama.

2. A probate court trustee pleaded guilty in San Diego federal court Friday to defrauding elderly and disabled trust beneficiaries and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in misappropriated funds at casinos. Teresa Laggner, 56, will be sentenced May 16 by U.S. District Judge Larry Burns for her guilty pleas to one count each of wire fraud and money laundering.

3. A harbor seal pup rescued at the Children's Pool in La Jolla was in critical condition with an infection Friday at SeaWorld San Diego, park officials said. The 16-pound male pup, believed to be less than a week old, was found Thursday after it was abandoned by its mother on the beach and was later taken to the park's animal care complex.
