Forecasters Warn About Dense Fog

Fog can create dangerous conditions on area roadways.

A dense fog advisory went into effect Saturday at 5 p.m. and was expected to last until at least 5 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

"Be careful, visibility will be lower in the coastal regions, down to a quarter-mile or less and could reach as low as 100 feet," National Weather Service forecaster Tina Stall said. "That could impact areas of Interstates 5 and 8 and 805, state Routes 56, 78 and 163 and other areas within 10 miles of the coast."

The foggy conditions also could cause delays at San Diego International Airport and McClellan-Palomar Airport in Carlsbad.

The NWS cautions motorists to use low-beam, rather than high-beam, headlights during foggy conditions to maximize visibility.

Stall said fog should burn off about 10 or 11 a.m. Sunday. She said temperatures will be about the same as today along the coast on Sunday, but could be 5 to 10 degrees cooler inland.
