FBI Arrests Suspected 'Mr. Magoo Bandit'

Scott James Larson is suspected of carrying out a dozen bank robberies.

1. A man suspected of carrying out a dozen bank robberies in California and Nevada over the last year—half of them in San Diego— was behind bars Tuesday, authorities reported. Scott James Larson, 43, was arrested Monday at FBI headquarters in San Diego, where he had gone to surrender after learning that he was wanted by law enforcement in connection with the spree of heists committed by a thief dubbed the "Mr. Magoo Bandit" by investigators, according to the federal agency.

2. The California Highway Patrol Wednesday is investigating a fatal rollover crash believed to have been caused by extremely foggy conditions. Authorities
say a 61-year-old woman was killed when she was partially ejected from a small
pickup driven by her 65-year-old husband, who suffered minor injuries. It happened last night on Maridge Road near Highway 76 in the North County. Authorities say the pickup rolled down a 150-foot embankment.

3. The number of San Diego County homes slipping toward foreclosure dropped by 14 percent in the third quarter of the year, compared to the same period in 2010, a real estate information service reported Tuesday. Lenders sent default notices to 5,048 homeowners in San Diego County in the third quarter, down from last year's third-quarter total of 5,869, according to La Jolla-based MDA DataQuick.
