Washington Post: CIA Asking for More Drones

Poway-based General Atomics Aeronautical makes many of the drones in the U.S. fleet.

The U.S. government’s use of unmanned aircraft—or drones—shows no sign of slowing down, as the CIA is proposing adding more drones to its fleet, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

The intelligence agency operates around 30 drones and is looking to add as many as 10 to its fleet, while the Defense Department has hundreds at its disposal, including 246 in the Air Force alone, according to the Post.

Many of the drones are manufactured by General Atomics Aeronautical, which is based in Poway in the business park.
