“I love the small class sizes and the ability to interact with the teachers instead of just sitting in the back listening to them,” Kirson said.

In fact, Kirson is often helping Cathy Kosich, a student services specialist and student council coordinator at Abraxas, as her teacher’s assistant throughout the school day.

Kirson’s appreciation of Abraxas has also taken her beyond the campus grounds. She has attended the superintendent’s Student Advisory Committee meetings as a representative from Abraxas.

Kirson said she has enjoyed talking about her school with student representatives from other schools.

“I thought it would be a great opportunity to share ideas,” she said. “It’s great!”

After Kirson graduates next month, she plans to attend community college and transfer to a four-year university. She wants to become an elementary school teacher.
