Detective Pleads Guilty to DUI, Hit-and-Run

A San Diego County sheriff’s detective has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor
drunken driving and hit-and-run charges stemming from a pair of crashes in
Palm Desert last summer, when she struck several parked cars and ran over a
pedestrian’s foot. Forty-eight-year-old Barbara Jean Crozier appeared in a
courtroom in Indio to plead guilty to not reporting an accident, DUI with
injury, hit-and-run property damage and driving under the influence. She’s free
on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to be sentenced March 20.

An East County man accused of fatally injuring his girlfriend when he shot a homemade cannon into his mobile home is scheduled to be arraigned today.

Richard Dale Fox was booked into county jail Tuesday on suspicion of detonating an explosive device in a manner resulting in death. The couple’s 4-year-old daughter and three adults were in the residence at the time but they weren’t hurt. Fox is due in court in El Cajon early this afternoon to enter a plea.
