The four-day event will end this weekend after attracting 126,000 attendees.

1. The four-day run of Comic-Con International wraps up Sunday at the San Diego Convention Center after attracting famous filmmakers, a large number of actors and actresses, and 126,000 attendees. The event began as a modest comic book fair in 1970 and has since grown into a premier pop culture extravaganza big enough to consider moving to larger facilities in Los Angeles and Anaheim. Organizers eventually decided to remain in San Diego until at least 2015. According to the San Diego Convention and Visitor's Bureau, the event has a total economic impact in the region of $162.8 million annually and generates $2.8 million in tax revenues.

2. A magnitude-3.0 earthquake was recorded south of the border near Guadalupe Victoria Saturday. The temblor, likely an aftershock from Easter's magnitude-7.2 quake in the area, was recorded at 11:18 a.m. about 13 miles south-southwest of Guadalupe Victoria and about 108 miles east-southeast of Tijuana, according to preliminary information from the U.S. Geological Survey.

3. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County fell three-tenths of a cent Saturday to $3.818 after rising 13 of the previous 14 days. The average price is 1.8 cents more than one week ago and 68.7 cents higher than one year ago, but 4.7 cents less than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
