City Council to Consider Extending Ban on Medical Marijuana

1. A Poway High grad was recognized Thursday at a luncheon held by San Diego Zoo Global. Nathan Tallman was awarded a Young Conservation Advocate medal for developing a program for teaching middle school science students about the decline of amphibian populations. San Diego Zoo Global was formerly known as the San Diego Zoological Society.

2. The Poway will hold a special session today at 4 p.m. to consider extending a 45-day ordinance banning medical marijuana dispensaries. Patch will be covering the meeting, check back with Patch for a report on how the council voted.

3. A service will be held today for Jeremy Henwood, the San Diego police officer gunned down in his patrol car on Aug. 7. Gov. Jerry Brown is expected to attend the service at the Rock Church in Liberty Station, along with representatives from law enforcement agencies throughout the state.
