Chargers Must Sell 3,400 Tickets to Lift Blackout

The San Diego team is playing the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

1.The Chargers need to sell 3,400 tickets for Sunday's game against Denver at Qualcomm Stadium by 1:15 p.m. Thanksgiving Day or it will not be locally televised, the team announced Tuesday. The NFL blackout policy requires all seats to be sold 72 hours before scheduled kickoff, except for the priciest ones in the club level at Qualcomm Stadium, which seats 70,000-plus fans for football.

2. The city of San Diego has spent about $2.4 million to police the open-ended Occupy San Diego demonstration that began nearly seven weeks ago, officials reported Tuesday. The price tag for keeping the social-justice movement safe and orderly includes nearly $144,000 in overtime costs, according to a statement from the San Diego Police Department.

3. Authorities plan to remove a dead 67-foot fin whale Tuesday from the remote Point Loma beach where it drifted ashore over the weekend. San Diego Lifeguards announced earlier this week that they would wait to attempt removing the whale's remains until this morning's high tide, which is expected to peak just before 7 a.m. The optimal ocean tide conditions are expected to give city and Coast Guard crews a better chance at hauling the massive carcass back into the ocean. The plan is to attach a rope tied to the whale's tail to a twin-engine 35-foot vessel and tow the carcass to Fiesta Island in Mission Bay, where scientists with the National Marine Fisheries Service will inspect it and try to determine what killed the animal.
