Camp Pendleton Marine Ordered Back Behind Bars

1. A Camp Pendleton Marine freed from prison while appeals courts weighed in on whether he was denied a fair trial in the killing of an unarmed Iraqi man in 2006 has been ordered back behind bars, it was reported Tuesday. Sgt. Lawrence Hutchins was convicted in 2007 as the mastermind of a plan to kidnap and kill suspected insurgent Saleh Gowad near Hamdania, but grabbed Hashim Awad instead when Gowad's family foiled the plot.

2. Light rain began to fall around San Diego County early Wednesday, a sign that an expected large cold trough of low pressure moving into the region from the Gulf of Alaska has arrived. A steadier rain will occur by this afternoon and continue into this evening, according to the National Weather Service.

3. The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County rose Wednesday to its highest amount since Oct. 10, 2008, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
