Cal State Board to Consider $400K Salary for New SDSU President

The Cal State Board of Trustees will vote on Elliot Hirshman's pay on Tuesday.

1. The Cal State Board of Trustees is set to vote Tuesday on approving a $400,000 annual salary for its new San Diego State University president. If approved, Elliot Hirshman's pay, which includes a $50,000 boost from the campus' nonprofit foundation, would be well above the nearly $300,000 former SDSU President Stephen Weber was paid per year and just below Cal State Chancellor Charles Reed's salary of $421,500, the Los Angeles Times reported.

2. County Assessor/Recorder/Clerk Ernie Dronenberg announced Friday that he hired as his assistant a veteran Arizona state finance official. Harold Scott retired from his state duties in 2009 after 20 years of service, Dronenberg said. Dronenberg said Scott has "served as the director of Arizona Department of Revenue, the assistant director in charge of the Property and Special Taxes Division and as the chairman of Arizona State Board of Equalization." In 2010, he served as a public finance expert in Kosovo, where he helped budget capital projects funded by the European Union. Scott will assume Dronenberg's duties in his absence and be responsible for special initiatives within the office.

3. The warm weather will continue throughout the region this weekend. In Poway, expect highs in the mid-80s.
