Authorities Search for Missing Woman; Ask Public for Help

1. Police were searching for a 35-year-old missing woman Friday and suspected her disappearance occurred under "suspicious circumstances," officials said. Kathleen Cary Scharbarth, who is about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs about 125 pounds and has blonde hair and blue eyes, was last seen Wednesday night wearing black pants and a purple shirt near her home. 2. Despite 15 consecutive decreases, including 1.6 cents Thursday, the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County was at a record high for Thanksgiving, $3.732. The average price is 57.9 cents more than a year ago, but 6.8 cents less than one week ago and 12.9 cents lower than a month ago, according to figures from the AAA and the Oil Price Information Service.

3. Sheriff's deputies arrested eight people overnight for alcohol-related offenses in a sweep operation in the cities of Encinitas, Solana Beach and Del Mar, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department reported Thursday. Deputies arrested three people for suspicion of drunken driving, three for suspected public intoxication and two minors who were allegedly in possession of alcohol, between 8 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m., according to Sheriff's Deputy Marcello Orsini.
