Authorities Ask for Help in Finding 'Geezer Bandit'

The FBI and local law enforcement agencies are offering a $20,000 reward.

1. The FBI and local law enforcement agencies asked for the public's help Saturday to apprehend the "Geezer Bandit,'' who is believed to be responsible for 14 bank robberies, and are offering a $20,000 reward. The "Geezer Bandit'' has allegedly robbed 14 Southern California banks since August 2009, said FBI Special Agent Darrell Foxworth, including several in the San Diego area.

2. Sheriff's deputies will be out in force to take drunken drivers off the streets this Memorial Day weekend, sheriff's deputies announced Saturday. During the next 100 days deaths and injuries resulting from drunken driving are expected to rise, deputies said, because Memorial Day weekend is considered the start of summer recreation and holiday travel, and several high schools and colleges will hold graduation ceremonies.

3. Local, state and federal government offices throughout San Diego County will be closed Monday in observance of Memorial Day.
