3.6-Magnitude Earthquake Rattles Baja California
The quake struck at 11:30 p.m. Sunday
1. A motions and trial-setting hearing is scheduled Monday for a man accused of making bombs and storing large amounts of explosives in what authorities dubbed a rental home-turned-bomb factory in Escondido. 2. The guided-missile destroyer U.S.S. Halsey is expected to return to San Diego Monday from a routine deployment that included the death of one of its own earlier this year. In January, the Pentagon announced that a Halsey crew member—26-year-old Petty Officer Dominique Cruz—apparently went overboard and died in the Gulf of Oman.
3. A magnitude-3.6 earthquake that occurred in Baja California caused no reported damage or injuries in San Diego, police said. The quake struck at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, 19 miles south-southeast of Guadalupe and 124 miles east-southeast of San Diego, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake was not felt in San Diego, police said.
