1,000 Students Participate in Clinton Global Initiative

The students will complete their 3-day event at the San Diego Food Bank.

1. Forums on overpopulation, poverty in Mexico, LGBT rights and college affordability were held at  the Clinton Global Initiative University meeting at UC San Diego on Saturday. About 1,000 students from around the world are gathering with nonprofit leaders, entrepreneurs and celebrities who are trying to make positive changes in the world through a group started by former President Bill Clinton, who spoke to them Friday night. 2. A class-action lawsuit was filed in San Diego alleging that Costa Mesa-based credit reporting company Consumerinfo.com defrauds consumers by misrepresenting its in-house method of calculating credit scores. According to the lawsuit, filed by the San Diego law firm Stueve Siegel Hanson and a law firm in Minneapolis, Consumerinfo.com, which operates the websites Freecreditscore.com, Freecreditreport.com and Consumerinfo.com, among others, takes money from consumers through false, misleading and deceptive advertisements for credit scores that are not used by lenders to determine creditworthiness.

3. A man used a handgun to force a donut shop worker to drink liquid dish soap in an unsuccessful effort to get the combination to the store's safe Saturday, police said. The robber left with money from the cash register but never got into the
safe. The robbery occurred at 5:10 a.m. at the Winchell's Donuts store outside the U.S. Marine Corps Air Station Miramar base.
