Super Mom Keeps a Steady Schedule So the Kids Won't Miss Dad

Poway Pilates owner Jennifer Richards keeps her children busy with their various extracurricular activities.

With three children and a Navy husband who’s currently deployed, Jennifer Richards is practically Super Mom. But just like the real deal, she’ll never admit it.

“I don’t think of myself like that,” said Richards, owner of on Midland Road. “I just think of myself as having a job and being a mom.”

Still, her day starts at 5:30 a.m. and ends long after the sun has set in order to fit everything in. She has kids Tyler, Tracey and Nate on a steady regimen of boxing, lacrosse and Cub Scouts in order to keep them active.

“I don’t want them missing their dad or dwelling on it,” said Richards, 44, of her husband who she met at 16. “I have to keep them busy so they don’t think about it.”

As for Mom, when she’s not studying Pilates or shuttling the kids to their respective schools, she’s fantasizing about shopping, going to the spa or scrapbooking.
