Airline Offers $9 Round-Trip Flights to Las Vegas

The airline will begin flying out of Lindbergh Field on Sept. 7.

A Florida-based airline is making its Lindbergh Field debut by offering $9 round-trip tickets to Las Vegas, it was announced Thursday.

Spirit Airlines—a low-fare airline company, which flies an all-Airbus fleet of jets primarily on the East Coast, Latin America and the Carribean—will fly twice daily, each way, between San Diego and Las Vegas beginning Sept. 7. A third daily flight will be added about two weeks later.

"Spirit Airlines will give travelers more choices for making the trip between San Diego and Las Vegas, and this convenient new service is bound to benefit tourism in both cities,'' said Robert Gleason, chairman of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.

The cheap tickets must be purchased by Friday and will be good for flights on Sept. 13, 14, 20, 21 and 27. Taxes and fees will boost the actual cost to about $40. No other destinations from San Diego were announced.
