General Atomics Lands Air Force Contract

The Poway-based company that builds drones signs a $297 million contract.

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. was awarded a nearly $297 million contract Monday by the U.S. Air Force to provide support and repair services in conjunction with arms sales to Afghanistan, Iraq and African nations.

The Poway-based company builds the Predator unmanned aircraft and its supporting ground systems.

The announcement from the Defense Department said the firm will perform program management, urgent repairs and services, configuration management, technical manual and software maintenance.

The contract runs through the end of this calendar year.
