The Central Library will be located at 330 Park Blvd. in the East Village adjacent to Petco Park. The project is expected to start in the fall of 2012 with completion slated for summer of 2013.

Benchmark will be furnishing the landscape at this much-anticipated addition to the downtown scene. Included in the plans is a living wall, referred to as a “green screen,” which will be installed between the ninth floor and the penthouse level. The wall will be fully animated with vines growing through the interior courtyard, accented by cobblestone underneath the trellis system.

The penthouse will be equipped with vines installed in fiberglass planters. Along the street will be a unique decomposed granite pathway with native plant material, completed by planters inset within the building allowing for natural light.

Other keynotes include a rock garden on the fifth floor, shade-tolerant plants on the second level of the parking garage, and a small landscape courtyard situated on the ninth floor.
