The CEO and president of the Poway Chamber of Commerce informed the board of directors Thursday that she will be leaving the organization early next month.
Luanne Hulsizer sent the board a letter that said her resignation will be effective on May 9.
“My employment with the Poway Chamber has been a very rewarding experience and leaving the relationships that I have established will be challenging,” Hulsizer wrote.
Hulsizer said her departure from the chamber is bittersweet, but she is excited to begin her new job as the executive director for the Chula Vista Third Avenue Village Association.
“I have enjoyed working here in Poway and making friendships and connections and supporting business in the community,” Hulsizer told Patch.
Hulsizer has been CEO and president of the Poway Chamber of Commerce since 2007.
“It’s going to be a real loss, that’s for sure,” said Paul Byrne, chairman of the chamber’s board of directors. “We’ll be looking for interim solutions and permanent solutions to replace her because she’s done a fabulous job since 2007 when she took over.
“It’s time to circle the wagons and figure out what we’re going to do and start talking to other chamber people and get their thoughts and recommendations and move forward,” Byrne said.
