Poway Center for the Performing Arts to Host 'Taste of Our Towne'

The event will be held on Saturday, June 23, and will showcase food and wine from several restaurants and wineries.

There’s no need to pull out the golf clubs this year—the is hosting an event that involves a whole different kind of swinging. Or shimmying, that is.

“The golf tournament kind of ran its course,” said Yvonne Dows, marketing manager for the PCPA, of past fund-raising events. “We wanted to bring it home to the theater.”

With that in mind, Taste of Our Towne was born—an inaugural event complete with food, drinks and lots of dancing. The party begins in the PCPA lobby, though much of the evening will take place in the surrounding plaza.

“I love the Center in the fact that it speaks to multiple generations and keeps the arts open for all to enjoy,” said Kraft, who’ll be serving a marinated tri-tip canapé topped with an artichoke and black olive tapenade.

Proceeds will help support the theater’s Art and Education Initiative, which offers a variety of programs.

Among them is the Introduction to Instruments, which allows fourth graders to become acquainted with a multitude of instruments, often for the first time. Another is the Up Close and Personal Series, where amateur performers get to meet professionals in their field.

The event will be held on Saturday, June 23 and tickets are $100. For more information, call 858-748-0505 or visit powayarts.org.
