Sherry Yarbrough was given the award at the 32nd annual luncheon.

Poway businesswoman Sherry Yarbrough was named the 2011 YWCA Tribute to Women & Industry (TWIN) recipient last week.

Yarbrough, who serves as the executive director of the Associated Builders and Contractors Apprenticeship Training Trust in Poway, was given the award at the 32nd annual luncheon for her leadership in the male-dominated field of construction.

“I am extremely honored to be named as a TWIN Award Recipient and to be included among so many other truly outstanding and dedicated women, especially for something I enjoy so much and believe in wholeheartedly,” she said.

Yarbrough, who most recently saw 80 of her graduates receive their state, federal and ABC journeyman certificates, is a Certified Master Trainer by the National Center for Construction & Research. She is also a member of the National Association of Women in Construction, a founding board member of the North County Trade Tech Charter High School and she has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Apprenticeship & Training.
