Soon the Poway Library bookstore won't be the only place to grab a second-hand read in town. Goodwill Industries announced that their fourth retail bookstore in the county will open in town this Friday.

According to Goodwill, a donation center opened up last month in town, but the bookstore will cut its ribbon with the Poway Chamber of Commerce at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 26 at the store, at the 13140 Poway Rd. location. Bookworms can join the ceremony for free cake, bottled water and the written word.

The Poway bookstore compliments Goodwill’s other facilities in the region — the retail stores in Rancho Bernardo, Ramona, and Mira Mesa; and the staffed donation centers in Rancho Penasquitos, and right at the 15 and Mira Mesa Boulevard.

“The last year or two has provided a tremendous opportunity for Goodwill. After decades of searching for appropriate store sites, we have been able to open convenient locations in several spots along the North Inland corridor.” said Mike Rowan, CEO.

After the grand opening on July 26, Powegians will have the choice of shopping and browsing in the Goodwill bookstore in Poway, as well as donating old favorites. The store will also carry hand-selected decorative items, accessories and costume jewelry.

You can already get another "second-hand read" at the Paperback Bookstore in Poway. They've been in business for a bazillion yrs. But if you're talking about hardbacks only, then yes, the library won't be the "only" place soon.
