Gas Prices Drop to New Low in San Diego County

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped to its lowest amount since Jan. 9 today, decreasing 1 cent to $3.659.

The average price has decreased for 49 of the past 51 days and is 5.2 cents less than one week ago, 19.6 cents lower than one month ago and 25.2 cents below what it was one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

"Los Angeles wholesale fuel prices dipped again to levels not seen since last December in the past week and it's conceivable within the next week or two that drivers will be paying less than they were on Jan. 1, the previous low point for 2013 gas prices," Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.

"But even with all these price drops, Southern California drivers as of next Tuesday will have paid an average of $3.50 or higher for 1,000 consecutive days."
