Crash-Damaged Café Lily May Re-Open in Early September

Nobody was injured when a car crashed into a wall in July, but the damage forced the business to close for repairs and renovations.

Fans of will have to wait a little longer before the coffee and sandwich shop near re-opens after a car crash damaged the building. But says the renovated shop will be more customer-friendly when it opens, most likely in early September.

“It’s going to have a new personality after the makeover,” Sassani said.

The crash in early July involved a lone vehicle that somehow lost control and hit the north side of the building, causing extensive damage. Nobody was hurt in the crash, although Sassani’s mother, Lily Jahani, was on the other side of the wall that was hit.

“She was working behind the wall that was hit,” Sassani said. “She was really lucky, she could have been really hurt.”

Sassani said Café Lily could have re-opened sooner, but he decided to take the opportunity to make extensive renovations and “do it right.”

“When customers are going to walk through the door they’re going to have a better experience than before just simply because it’s going to be more friendly to them,” he said.

Café Lily will continue to support local artists and musicians, with pieces for sale on the walls and an .

“Everything is custom for what Café Lily is aiming for,” Sassani said. “What we’re doing with the musicians, the artists, the customers, all those people that are involved with Café Lily come first.”
