Arts-and-Crafts Store Serves as Hub of Activity for the Creative

Stamping Details owner DiAnn Ogawa hosts craft classes, stamping clubs and more.

Kariana Reyes says mom DiAnn Ogawa opened in Poway because there wasn’t a hobby shop like it close to her Rancho Peñasquitos home. Seven years later, they just found out it won second place on 10News San Diego’s A-List for arts-and-craft stores.

It’s got all the touches of home―Ogawa’s husband designed the website, Reyes has worked in the shop part-time since her senior year in high school and the small group of employees are like extended family.

“I enjoy helping out the business,” said Reyes, 25. “It’s a lot of fun.”

An operating room nurse at Rady’s Children Hospital, Ogawa still finds time to work at her shop every day. There she helps customers with various projects and offers a place where people can drop off or make cards for soldiers overseas. Last year they collected 1,000 to send.

She offers crafting classes for beginners and up.

“I think some people get intimidated because the cards [they see] are so elegant, but we offer classes for crafters of all levels,” Reyes said.

The hobby shop is also a hub for various stamping clubs―like the , which meets every third Thursday of the month from 6 to 8 p.m. The club is free and open to the public. For more information, call 858-513-8024.
