Artists Needed for Exhibits at Poway's Center for the Performing Arts

Applications will be accepted through Feb. 29 for art exhibits beginning in September.

With the accepting applications for their upcoming exhibits, interested artists can look forward to much more than fifteen minutes of fame.

“The exhibits stay up for one month,” said Vivian Hickman, the center’s administrative assistant, adding that the number of applications received each year varies. “Sometimes it can be 12, sometimes it can be 25.”

Artwork is displayed along the lobby walls at the center’s orchestra and balcony levels, and community services manager Belinda Romero says more than 70,000 patrons visit every year.

“The exhibit space … can accommodate 60 to 80 framed pieces, depending on the size,” Romero said. “Three-dimensional work is also accepted on a more limited basis.”

The center is currently accepting applications for exhibits from September 2012 through June 2013. Applications are due by Feb. 29, and those whose work has been selected will be notified by April 16.
