Apple's iPad 2 Grabs More Headlines Than Any Other Tech Company

Apple's effective marketing of iPad 2 gives business people the opportunity to learn.

When it comes to marketing, there are certain companies that not only do it well, but they do it best. They not only set the bar, but they put it at a level that’s difficult for others to touch let alone come close to. Take, for example, companies like Coca-Cola, Nike and Starbucks.

But let’s not forget Apple. Ranked No. 20 on the Interbrand Best Global Brands in 2009 and 17th in 2010, the company wins my vote when it comes to marketing.  Apple has always risen to the occasion when launching a new product. There’s certainly a fascination surrounding the company and when they speak, the world listens. Last week, Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs, took a day off from his medical leave to unveil the much anticipated arrival of the iPad 2. The second generation product will be available March 11 and offers a completely new, thinner design, a faster processor, and includes two new applications: iMovie and GarageBand. What’s the topper? It starts at $499, the same price as the original iPad.

It should come as no surprise that the launch of the iPad 2 is generating excitement everywhere. In fact, a recent study conducted by the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism found that Apple grabs more headlines than any other technology company. Surprised? Not in the least.

Apple is great at marketing because it employs multiple strategies. Here are three ways the tech company sticks out (and not like a sore thumb):

They’re everywhere. Apple has done a tremendous job planting its brand and products in television commercials, billboards and posters everywhere. For example, in case you’ve never seen an Apple commercial, they’re nothing short of fun, cool videos that invite individuals to experience the Apple lifestyle while giving the impression that if you own an Apple product, you’re part of an exclusive group.

They understand the importance of reviews. If there’s one thing that Apple knows, it’s that reviews are crucial. When people read good things about a product, they want to own it. This is especially true when it comes to Apple products. The company understands that in order to be successful and grow a business, it must embrace and promote users experiences.

They focus on customer service. The great thing about Apple is that they encourage customers to come into their stores and experience the products first hand. This allows customers the opportunity to play around with devices and ask questions. If you’ve never been in an Apple store, let me just say that they don’t have a good sales staff; they have a great sales staff. Their employees are amazing and will take as long as is needed to help customers get acquainted with products. This is extremely important because consumers pay close attention to customer service and providing individuals with a positive experience will keep them coming back for more.

Apple has done an exceptional job with both creating a brand and their marketing strategies. They strive to be the best and, to be quite frank, it’s difficult for any other tech company to out-do them. Congratulations to Apple for engaging with customers through cool videos, ads and placing a strong emphasis on customer service. I’m definitely planning to stop in and check out the new iPad 2 when it’s available, and I’m sure it’s not going to disappoint.
