[Updated] Brush Fire Closes Down SR 67 Near Poway

The cause of the fire, which was extinguished by 4 p.m. Thursday, is still unknown.

A small brush fire that started near Iron Mountain Drive off Highway 67 has been extinguished, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department said.

California Highway Patrol reported the fire is on the west side of Highway 67 around 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. 

The San Diego Sheriff's Department closed state Route 67 from Scripps Poway Parkway to Poway Road for roughly an hour.

According to CHP, all lanes on the highway were re-opened by 4 p.m. and the Sheriff's Department reported the small fire, whose acreage remains unknown, was extinguished.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Lakeside Fire Department is responding to a vegetation fire on Highway 67 at Iron Mountain Drive, authorities are reporting.

Units from CalFire and Poway Fire Department are enroute, according to a Nixle alert.

California Highway Patrol is reporting the fire is on the west side of Highway 67 and the San Diego Sheriff's Department is closing the state route from Scripps Poway Parkway to Poway Road.

According to CHP, all lanes on the highway were re-opened by 4 p.m.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
