See Miss San Diego 2012 Crowned

Poway's Center for Performing Arts is hosting the pageant this weekend.

It’s time again to crown a and the competition is heating up this weekend here in Poway.

This Sunday, hopeful women will walk the stage and show off their talent at the Miss San Diego 2012 titleholder show. The competition is taking place at the .

The show starts off with a group dance number, followed by interviews and 90-second talent shows per each contestant. Judges will weigh each element of the competition, with the interview at 25 percent, the talent portion at 35 percent, the evening wear at 20 percent, the lifestyle and fitness portion at 15 percent and their onstage question at 5 percent.

The top five finalists will be chosen and from those top five, a winner, a runner up and second runner up will be named, with scholarships awarded at $1,000, $500 and $250 respectively.

Miss San Diego 2012 will play an active part in the community in the coming year and must be a positive role model to others. Last year’s winner of the pageant was 19 year-old Marina Inserra from Chula Vista, who fundraised for Breast Cancer Awareness.

Other titleholder positions beside Miss San Diego that will be announced are:

  • Miss San Diego’s Outstanding Teen
  • Miss County of San Diego
  • Miss Cities of San Diego
  • Miss Southern California Regional
  • Miss Southern California Regional’s Outstanding Teen

Miss San Diego 2012 will go on to compete at Miss California.

If you want to attend the pageant, visit the Poway Center for Performing Arts on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 4 p.m. Tickets cost $26 through Saturday and can be purchased by emailing tickets@misssandiego.org. Tickets will be available the day of the show at the theater but cost will be $31 plus theater fees.
