Poway Paints the Town with Artful Color

Poway is the center of all things art this week, with a monthlong art exhibit, art classes for kids and adults, and a holiday gift guide.

Poway is painted with lots of art this week, including a monthlong juried art exhibit at the , aka POW!, who will host the Ramona Art Guild through Dec. 24.

More than 40 artists will be displaying through the nonprofit that provides Ramona opportunities to advance their knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts. This year’s show was juried by Pat Kelly, an artist herself, of Ramona. She currently teaches both plein air and still-life painting at the in La Jolla.

“Our Ramona Art Guild is thrilled to have been accepted to curate a second show at the Poway Center of Performing Arts,” said Susan Bainbridge. “It is one of the most beautiful venues for artists in San Diego to display their art.

“Hosting a show like this provides our Guild members an opportunity to advance their work by showing it alongside professionals from around San Diego County, and it is instructive as well,” said Bainbridge. “Members and the public are exposed to a variety of work that otherwise would not be available in our community.”

The Poway Center for the Performing Arts was designed to present fine arts, as well as performing arts and educational programming. The lobby of the center is the venue for the art exhibitions. A new exhibit opens monthly, ensuring a wide variety of styles and media from local and regional artists, as well as student art.

The opening reception was last Sunday and the exhibit runs through Dec. 23. Gallery hours for viewing are: Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
