Procrastinators Beware: Boardwalk Craft Market Closes Saturday

One more day of shopping at the market is left this year.

Powegians looking for a unique holiday gift will have one last opportunity to visit the Boardwalk Craft Market before its closure this weekend. 

The 19th annual market, which is held in , will operate on Saturday for one more day before it reopens in February. 

"The market takes place on the covered boardwalk that runs along the south side of Old Poway Park, from the Hamburger Factory to the Historical Society Museum," said Poway Arts and Craft Guild Founder Valerie Ann Bailey. "It is a unique visual experience, very colorful and festive."

Bailey, who sells sterling silver jewelry at the market, said each artist is also an "experienced craftsman who have worked for years in their respective fields" and are often present to answer customers' questions.

  • Dennis Caldwell's fine hardwood chopping blocks and executive clipboards. 
  • Cecilia Vellaman's women and girls' aprons, hats and accessories.    
  • Lynn Wolsey's ceramics, game boards, playing cards and holiday ornaments.  
  • Barbara Mathews' quillows (quilt/pillows) scarves, shawls and afghans. 
  • Muriel Meador's watercolors, prints and greeting cards.   
  • Chris Stell's fused glass jewelry, boxes and art pieces.   
  • Annaliese Casserino's hand crafted silver and mixed metals jewelry.

The Boardwalk Craft Market is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Over at the , theatre leaders have announced the date for its 'Taste of our Town' fundraiser. The event will be held on May 19 and will feature live music, restaurants, auctions and games. 

Finally, and just next door to the Poway Center for the Performing Arts, Poway High's Music Club is performing around town. The students will perform during various hours outside each of the three Starbucks locations in Poway until Saturday. The holiday performances will also serve as fundraiser for the Poway High School Music Boosters. For more information, visit its website
