Country Singer Crystal Gayle to Perform in Poway

About 600 attendees are expected to attend the special Valentine's Day performance.

Serenade your sweetheart with a Valentine’s Day performance by Crystal Gayle, a legendary country singer best known for her 1977 signature ballad “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.”

The Grammy-winning singer will perform at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the

“I’ll be doing songs I hope people remember,” Gayle said. “For the Valentine’s show, [we’ll show] the romantic part of Crystal Gayle.”

She will sing some of her top hits in celebration of the lovers’ holiday, such as “When I Dream” and “Making’ Up for Lost Time (The Dallas Lovers’ Song)”

“We’ll do more love songs than usual,” Gayle said. “Valentine’s is a wonderful holiday and brings the best in all of us.”

The first 200 attendees will receive a Valentine’s Day rose, compliments of Crystal Gardens Florist.

In a venue that holds 800 seats, PCPAF Executive Director Michael Rennie expects about 600 people to attend the concert on a Tuesday. 

“We do a series of professional concerts, drama and dance performances, so Crystal seemed like a great for our Valentine’s Day performance,” Rennie said. “She’s going to do an intimate evening of songs for lovers, so we’re very excited to get her on Feb. 14.”

Gayle said she is excited to perform at Poway. 

“I love that area of the country,” Gayle said. “We just go to that area for vacation as well. We love California. We have so many good friends that we’re excited we’re going to be in Poway.” 

The world-famous singer rose to national prominence in the seventies and has released more than 20 number one hits. She has also received awards from the Country Music Association, the Academy of Country Music and the American Music Awards.

Tickets cost is $55 for adults, $47 for seniors, and $10 for youth, who are under 18 years of age with the purchase of an adult ticket. To purchase tickets, go here.

Three days before Gayle performs, head to for an Old Town Road Concert at 2p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11. The San Diego band will play authentic bluegrass music to celebrate America’s transition from a rural farm community to an urban society. The free event is part of San Diego County Library’s Acoustic Showcase series concerts to bring local artists to libraries.

More local music is available at ’s weekly Open Mic event, which happens 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 10.
