Yuji Takabayashi is Dedicated to Academics, Music

During his four years at Poway High School, the 18-year has earned a 4.2 GPA. He has excelled in seven Advanced Placement courses and several honors courses.

In addition to his schoolwork, Takabayashi is dedicated to music. He has played the alto saxophone since fifth grade and learned the baritone saxophone the next year. At Poway High, Takabayashi has been a member of the marching band and jazz ensemble for four years.

In addition to music, Takabayashi is involved in sprots. He has been on the track and field team for four years, too. He also tutors his peers and participates in community service projects as a member of Key Club.

After he graduates from high school, Takabayashi plans to study electrical engineering and computer science at UC Berkeley. But before then, he’s taking a much-needed vacation.

Takabayashi, along with two friends, plans to travel Europe for a month.

This won’t be the first time he will travel outside of the country. Takabayashi, who was born in Switzerland, regularly visits family in Switzerland and Japan. He is fluent in English, German and Japanese.
