Win a Family 4-Pack of Tickets to Cavalia!

Larry King says it's the "best show ever" and now Patch readers have a chance to win four tickets. Just leave a comment.

Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse is an innovative multi-media and multi-disciplinary production created by Normand Latourelle, one of the co-founders of famed Cirque du Soleil, currently performing in San Diego. The show is performing through Dec. 30, under its signature White Big Top, in the parking lot adjacent to Petco Park, downtown.

Patch readers have a chance to win a 4-pack of tickets to the 8 p.m. show on Saturday, Dec. 22. All you need to do is leave a comment telling us why you want the tickets. A winner will be selected at random. All comments must be in by 6 p.m. PST on Wednesday, Dec. 19. The winner will be announced 8 a.m. PST on Thursday, Dec. 20.

Enjoyed by some 3.5 million people, Cavalia is a lavish production involving 50 magnificent horses and featuring 42 riders, aerialists, acrobats, dancers and musicians from all over the world. A show unlike any other, Cavalia celebrates the relationship between humans and horses, virtually reinventing the equestrian arts.

In Cavalia, horses cavort with the many artists in front of a constantly changing digital background projected onto a 200-feet wide screen, drawing spectators into dream-like virtual environments. Unlike traditional horse shows, Cavalia’s audience faces a single 160-foot-wide stage which allows the horses space to gallop at full speed, at times running completely free, unfettered by bridles or halters. Cavalia takes place under a white, 26,264-square-foot big top, rising some 110-feet high that gives the horses an ample playground to perform with their trainers and artists.

Must be a legal resident of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia who are 18 and older. Winner will be selected in a random drawing. The winner will receive four tickets to see Cavalia on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. PST. Approximate retail value of tickets: $438. Click the PDF above for complete Official Rules.

As an avid horse woman this would be a way for me to share the beauty of the equine species and the relationship between horse and human with my very non-horsey family. They simply don't get WHY I love horses like I do - they are strange - but I love them. To share the incredible equine in such a way would be a true gift. Karen

My first thoughts about If I could win the tickets I would give them to my friends family that are going through some very tough times. Then I thought about what my family has gone Through this Year and I thought about how much my husband, daughter and my 6 year old grandson would be thrilled to see this show. The first time I heard about this show I wanted to see it however, I can not afford it. I don't remember the last time my husband and I have gone out on the town for a night. My daughter is a single parent and she does not get any help from the dad so any extra money she gets goes for her sons school and day care. These tickets would be the high light of the year for us. I know there are many people on hard times and I always try to give what I can to those people that are having hard times as I truly believe that what goes around comes around but this time it would really mean so much to me to see this show. Thank you for the opportunity to win these tickets. God bless

I would love to take my family to see this show! We rarely go out because my wife and I are both unemployed. Our mildly-autistic son is the "biggest loser" in that he misses out on so much! I'm personally crazy about horses and dogs; my wife can take or leave them and our son is afraid of them. I would be thrilled if they could learn to love them as I do.

My money has gotten 'beyond tight' and i like to directly thank at least one man who was my 'care-giver' for not only my Kidney Transplant (in jan, 2008, here at San Diego's U.C.S.D Hospital), but also cared for me DURING MY CHEMO-THERAPY for my b-cell NHL LYMPHOMA, (year 2010, six-rounds of chemo, but hooray, i've been declared CURED of the cancer, not just in remission). Have been unable to do something this/THAT special for him since. Plus, he has two nice friends, who've been aking him to 'take me out to dinner' with them, but i've paid my way long... So, having the other two tickets to share with them, would be a great way to show my appreciation for their unconditional acts of kindness. Plus, i've volunteered at the Super Great Horse Rescue Charity "the HORSES OF TIR NA NOG, [over there in GUATAY, s.d.; east county}, and seeing all their 'rescues', it'd just be GREAT to see these Gallant, Strong, Healthy Horses in their prime.

Since we're our relatives are far away and visting isn't an option this year, going out for a special event like this would be a great way to spend and remember this holiday for years to come.
