Rain Moves On But Gusty Winds Will Linger

Windy weather is in the forecast, but not as windy as Nov. 10, 2000.

The skies over Poway are clearing following the recent rainfall, but gusty winds remain in the forecast.

The National Weather Service reported that .4 of an inch of rain fell in Poway, with just over half an inch recorded on Mt. Woodson. Wind gusts on Saturday could hit 35 mph.

Twelve years ago on this day a tornado touched down in southeast Poway, according to the NWS. Eight houses were damaged, trees were uprooted and the twister was strong enough to move vehicles.

The National Weather Service forecast for Poway:

Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 60. West wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Saturday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 43. West wind 10 to 15 mph becoming east after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Veterans Day: Sunny, with a high near 67. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 48. East wind around 10 mph.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 73. East wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable in the morning.

Monday night: Clear, with a low around 51.
