Prime Poway Woman No. 29: Ingrid Alverde

She's devoted 10 years of her life to ensuring those who want a home in Poway have one.

If one were to look at Ingrid Alverde's accomplishments, you'd think she was a Poway resident.

That's right, Alverde doesn't live in Poway but her contributions to the city would make it seem like she did.

Alverde, who is the city of Poway's economic development manager, has worked in the city for 10 years.

"I am most proud of the affordable housing developments that I have been privileged to work on," she said. "Poway’s Solara development is home to 56 households that are fully powered by the sun, which at the time of its development was the first in the country. I am also proud of the resident service programs that we have nurtured with funds from Poway’s Redevelopment Agency. They allow adults and children living in affordable housing to improve their academic achievement, set financial goals and improve their family’s standard of living."

Alverde said her inspiration is her mother.

"I look up to my mother, who was the only student in her high school class to attend college," she said. "She ultimately completed her master’s degree and had a successful career in microbiology. She raised her family, worked full time and took care of the household, all the while making it look easy. As a working mom with small children, I realize now what an incredible achievement it was!"
