Prime Poway Woman No. 28: Christine Cunningham

She deserves praise for her involvement in the community and her success in raising "Cunningham kids."

Though she credits her involvement in the community to her husband, Councilman Jim Cunningham, it isn't a secret that she's played a positive role in the lives of many Powegians.

Christine Cunningham, an attorney, has volunteered for St. Michael's School in Poway, Holy Family Center and has raised funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with her family.

She's also been involved in Poway's Adopt-a-Family, is the founder of a Fourth of July tradition that brings Poway neighbors together, and most recently played a major role in the creation of the popular Poway Veterans Park.

Though her professional credentials would impress anyone, Cunningham said she is most proud of being a mother.

"While my biggest accomplishment was becoming a lawyer, I am most proud of my decision to give it up fifteen years ago to raise our four kids with lots of love, laughter, music, homemade cookies and candlelight dinners," she said. "I am reminded of how right that decision was when I recall my own mom saying, 'In my next life, I'd like to come back as a Cunningham kid.' "
