Prime Poway Woman No. 19: Leah Browder

Twenty-three years of public service and counting make Leah Browder notable.

Leah Browder, the director of public works for the city of Poway, has worked for the public for 23 years and she seems to have done it all.

“I have had a varied career doing everything from working in a budget office to running a landfill to running a library to this, my dream job, heading up a public works department,” she said.

A graduate of Poway High, Browder said her “life has been full of inspirational woman” like her mother and many others.

“In my daily life, I am surrounded here in Poway by women I look up to—our City Manager Penny Riley, Assistant City Manager Tina White and the many women in our workforce who have dedicated their lives to this most noble profession,” she said.

What does Women's History Month mean to you?

“Women’s History Month reminds us to honor the achievements, leadership and courage of those who have made a difference. This month focuses on women, but I’m in favor of any and all opportunities that remind us to make a minute in the craziness of every day life to give thanks and recognition to our fellow human beings!”
