Prime Poway Woman No. 10: Veronika Doud

Valley Elementary teacher Doud taps into all parts of the Poway community.

Veronika Doud “wouldn’t miss the opportunity to be involved,” and she proves it.

The local mom, who teaches part time at , is involved in the school’s foundation, the Poway Youth Soccer League, Tri-N 4 a Cause Triathlete Team, Challenged Athlete’s Foundation and San Diego Triathlon Club.

“Each non-profit is deeply meaningful for different reasons and have helped shape my perspectives as a mother and teacher,” she said. “Most of my involvement stems from the interests my children pursue or are involved with in some way.”

Doud, who has lived in Poway since 2006, offered advice to other women.

“Life is short—don’t waste a minute doing something you can’t be proud of,” she said. “Work hard, try hard, and don’t settle for mediocre. Get busy doing the things you love.”

What does Women’s History Month mean to you?

“Women’s History month (and every month) is a time to reflect about the lady I’d like to be. To set new goals and make a plan to reach them. When this life is all said and done, I want my children to be proud of the legacy I leave behind. By being active in the community and in the things that matter to them, my hope is that I can accomplish that.”
