Powegian Named Executive Director of San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy

Lynne Anne Baker was appointed the position on Dec.1.

Poway resident Lynne Anne Baker was named the executive director of the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy, it was announced Friday.

Baker, who was appointed the role on Dec. 1, said she chose to join the nonprofit because of her passion for the providing the “community meaningful outdoor recreation opportunities.”

“I want to help the conservancy maintain the excellent momentum of the first 25 years,” she said. “We’ll continue to provide amazing outdoor recreation opportunities while protecting our critical natural resources and being stewards for clean water.”

Baker joins the two-member staff after working with the California Attorney General’s office and earning a J.D. at the University of San Diego.

Fellow Powegian and board President Rand Newman said Baker’s extensive experience will benefit SDRVC.

“Lynne is a person who comes to us with great vision, creative ideas and strong leadership skills,” he said. “These characteristics will significantly increase our presence and visibility in San Diego County.”

Baker said her goals as the new executive director will be to increase outdoor recreation trails, increase the profile of SDRVC and “ensure continue adequate stewardship of River Park lands to maintain and improve water quality, biodiversity, and public safety within the park.”
