Poway Loves to Give Back: Feeding Families in Need

This Valentine's Day edition of Poway Gives Back features two different organizations supporting youth here and families in need abroad.

80,000 MEALS TO GO

It was packing day at St. Michael's School in Poway recently. Teacher Jennifer Patterson, her son, Jake, 9, student Luke D'Agnese, 11, husband Steve Patterson and their other boy, Trevor, 9,  joined with over 530 St. Michael's School students, teachers and their families and assembled 84,689 meals in their Holy Family Center parking lot. The meals are destined for children and their families in Haiti via the local organization known as  Friends and Family Community Connection. Not only is this a great way to give back, it’s also a great bonding experience for the volunteers. St. Michael’s School educates preschool through eigth grade and is now accepting applications at smspoway.org.
