PHS Grads Become World Travelers in USD Programs

Bienvenidos to Poway High School alum Kelly Fromm!

After completing a fall semester abroad in Spain, the University of San Diego student returned home in time for Christmas.

Fromm is majoring in mathematics and expected to graduate in the spring of 2013. She took part in a USD program that works in conjunction with Madrid’s Universidad Pontificia Comillas, a private, Jesuit university offering various courses across multiple disciplines.

According to Liz Harman, USD’s senior media relations director, one such program is the Travel Seminar―“an academic course traveling throughout Spain, coupling cultural sight visits with guest lecturers as well as company visits.”

USD accounting major and PHS graduate William Maher also studied abroad this fall, venturing off to Italy’s Florence University of the Arts located in the famous Palazzo Doni.

An Open Doors Report from the Institute of International Education says that USD ranks highest in the nation for the percentage of undergraduate students―a total of 71 percent―studying abroad.
