One Book, One San Diego Author to Speak at Women's Empowerment Event

Listen to author, Zohreh "Zoe" Ghahremani discuss her first book, Sky of Red Poppies.

Spend the afternoon and listen to, Zohreh 'Zoe' Ghahremani. She will discuss her book and at a Women’s Empowerment International Event in Poway.

“Organizations that help women, like Women’s Empowerment International, are so important and I will do what I can to support them,”  said Ghahremani in a statement.

In 2000, Ghahremani and her husband left her dental practice and teaching position at Northwestern University to come San Diego and pursue her dream as a writer.

Her first book, Sky of Red Poppies, is about a woman's journey of self discovery.

“I want to show women that it is possible to follow their dreams.  I look at my own life; it is never too late to make a change, to explore who we are and to find new ways of fulfilling ourselves,” stated Ghahremani.

Sky of Red Poppies was selected as one of One Book, One San Diego selections. One Book, One San Diego brings the community of libraries together to discuss three books.

The event be on Sunday, Feb. 10 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the home of Winifred Cox.

A suggested donation of $35 will include a silent auction, appetizers, sangria, and wine.
