Norwegian Singer To Be Showcased at Poway Library

Singer-songwriter Marjit Vinjerui will treat locals to her music on July 13 at 2 p.m.

What if you had Dolly Parton's voice, Django Reinhardt's spirit and Debbie Harry's attitude? Norwegian singer-songwriter Marjit Vinjerui brings it all together.

Vinjerui will be performing at seven County Library branches this month, including Poway's, as part of the award-winning Acoustic Showcase series. Poway's concert featuring Vinjerui will be  on July 13 at 2 p.m.

Vinjerui released her first U.S. album in early 2012, and her most popular song is "Days." She has performed at many musical festivals before and she previously played in the Acoustic Showcase series in 2011. Since the Showcase began in 2010, the library has hosted 200 free concerts with 10,000 customers in attendance.

"Music crosses all barriers and brings people together, building community in the process," said Library Director José Aponte. "People don't need to live in metropolitan San Diego to experience quality, local music. It's right here at the library - and there's no cover charge."
