Leader No. 17: Anna Page Building Experience for a Political Career

Poway Unified School school board rep hopes to run for Congress and eventually for president.

Anna Page has to wait at least 18 years for her ultimate goal.

You have to be 35 to run for president, and her first shot would be in 2032.

The 17-year-old is student representative on the Poway Unified School District’s Board of Trustees.

Anna also is involved in the Rancho Penasquitos Town Council and the California YMCA Youth & Government Board of Directors.

She ran for youth governor of California and though she didn’t win the position she said she learned a lot.

She’s also reaching for the stars.

“I learned valuable lessons in campaigning, conveying a message, self-portrayal and being resilient after a setback,” she said. “I will use these lessons to accomplish my future goals of running for Congress and eventually president of the United States.”

Anna said she’s inspired by any woman who has contributed to the “progress of America without compromising her values.”

Advice for young people:

“Do not be afraid to go after what you want. There are only open doors, so always remain positive.”
