Drivers Warned About Dense Fog

Dense fog along the San Diego County coastline Monday morning could extend inland to the mesas near Interstate 15, which could reduce visibility for motorists, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory scheduled to remain in effect in coastal areas until 9 a.m.

"The slight deepening of the marine layer will allow areas of locally dense fog to extend slightly farther inland to around the mesas early this morning," the NWS advisory stated.

Pockets of dense fog could cause visibility to dip to less than a quarter-mile at times in inland areas around Interstate 15, meteorologists said. Motorists were advised to slow down, use their low beams and leave plenty of distance between them and the vehicles in front of them.

Flights at coastal airports could be affected, according to the NWS.

The fog is expected to burn off in most areas by about 9 a.m. but could develop again late Monday night, NWS forecasters said.
