Where/when: Pow Pac, Poway, 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Why Go: Pow Pac, Poway's community theater, presents a comedy, “Skin Deep,” about two singles trying to find a way to be together while dealing with their awkward manners and their families.

Price: $10-$15.

Where/when: Rancho Bernardo Inn, Rancho Bernardo, 6 p.m. Thursday.

Why Go: The hotel's Veranda lounge prepares a different menu of small bites according to the mood set by the musician. This week that's saxophonist Bill Shreeve.

Price: Food costs only.

Where/when: Scripps Miramar Ranch library, Scripps Ranch, 7 p.m. Saturday.

Why Go: Pianist Endre Hegedus performs a range of selections from Franz Lizst, the Hungarian composer, to mark the 200th anniversary of his birth. A reception follows.

Price: $10.

A LITTLE FARTHER AFIELD

Where/when: Spring Home & Garden Show, Del Mar Fairgrounds, Friday through Sunday.

Why Go: To see the latest in home and garden design, get some ideas and lessons for renovations and meet experts who can help solve that nagging fix-it problem.

Price: $1 to $8; discounts are available.

Where/when: San Diego Air & Space Museum, San Diego, 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Why Go: For the Radius Festival, where top dance performers in the electronic, techno, dubstep and trance genres will take the stage.

Price: $60-$155.
