Chargers Partner with Breast Cancer Org for Free Mammograms

The team is working with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, San Diego to provide mammograms to uninsured women.

The San Diego Chargers have partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure, San Diego to provide free mammograms to dozens of uninsured women.

“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a cause that really hits close to home for me,” A.G. Spanos, the Chargers’ executive vice president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “My mom is a breast cancer survivor and from her experience I know how vital early detection can be. I encourage women to call and learn if they qualify for a free mammogram because early detection saves lives.”

The team will be underwriting the cost of free mammograms and breast exams for 70 women under the age of 40 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Tuesday at Qualcomm Stadium. Additional women may be able to receive mammograms at a later date, and women under 40 will be directed to other resources for help.

Women can call 619-508-8088 for information about qualifying to participate.
