Celebrate National Chili Day in Poway

Check out the spots where you can pick up a bowl of homemade chili on the significant holiday.

It's a big day.

No, the Poway High kids aren't graduating. Nor is it the Mayor's State of the City Address. And, the big Buddy Holly tribute concert is a couple more days away.

But it is arguably one of the more significant holidays for Poway. At least that's what Patch was led to believe after heavy talks of chili arose during the Poway City Council meeting this week.

And, although Wendy took her restaurant away from Powegians years ago, we still have a couple spots to pick up a delectable bowl of the stew.

: From chili cheese fries to chili salad to just a plain ol' bowl of chili—the beloved has it all. Or get creative and ask the server if they'd be willing to slab some of their chili on one of the restaurant's famous burgers for you. The Old Poway Park restaurant is complete with a Western-theme and plenty of milkshakes to choose form.

: One of the few bars in Poway, and probably only a few Powegians are aware that this Pomerado Road restaurant has some of the best chili in San Diego. The Irish bar, which is known for its good prices and fun atmosphere, serves up a bowl of chili for a few bucks.

Do-it-Yourself: In the mood to do some Southern cooking tonight? Chelsea Dillon-Miller, Poway Patch's Farm to the Table columnist, shares her delicious Cowboy Chili recipe . All you have to do is pick up the goods at a local grocery store. Or if you want to carrying the celebration into the weekend, visit Saturday's Farmer's Market for the freshest products.
